Spring... time to get the hands dirty.
The winter was not kind to the row of arborvitae that ran along the front patio, they all had to be removed and will be replaced with english yews. They will hold up to the snow better and should actually grow better in the shade.
The sliver queen euonymus had to be removed from this bed and the one in front of the study (picture below) with the exception of the single plant that is growing up the down spout. I happen to like the way it has grown around the gagage light. New boxwoods are going to be planted in these two beds and the deer are not going to be happy about this... it is one of their favorite feeding places around the house in the winter.
The maples had to be cut way back 'casue they were blocking the entrance to the front door.
This side of the house looks okay for now.
